Well known for its complexity, the MINI Challenge JCW racer boasts a sophisticated Quaife transmission – watch as Direnza engineers rebuild the six-speed sequential unit
Fresh from the race track, the Direnza MINI JCW is brought into the team’s workshop for a full and essential gearbox rebuild. Engineers wasted no time stripping the six-speed Quaife unit and replacing worn parts.
The gearbox is an impressive feat of engineering, boasting large, 85mm shaft centres, six straight cut, open face dog engagement gears, plus a lightweight carbon fibre bell housing.
Known as the QBM2M, this Quaife gearbox can be fitted with either a Quaife ATB or Tran-X plate differential, and is suitable for both front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive transverse applications.
